Maraya

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

♀, born ca. 3/2025, affectionate - open-minded - social, in Bulgaria Maraya, born ca. 03/2025, is a small mixed breed dog, approximately 50 cm tall and weighing 17 kg. Maraya is a very special dog who, despite her past on the streets, has retained her great trust in people. She loves human closeness above all and shows herself to be an incredibly affectionate, attached and loving companion. Cuddling is one of her favorite things - she would love to be very close to her humans and give them her affection. Through her life on the streets, Maraya knows both street noise and the hustle and bustle of the city. She masters these environments confidently and attentively. She is also a pleasant companion in everyday life: she knows the collar and leash, walks calmly and relaxed on a leash and orients herself nicely to her humans. Maraya is social, open-minded and attentive. She meets new people friendly and interested. Car rides and vet visits are no problem for her, which makes her a straightforward and versatile dog. We currently do not know if Maraya is compatible with cats, as she has not met them yet. Children in her future home should be at least 8 years old and be able to treat a dog respectfully. For Maraya, we are looking for a loving home where she can finally arrive and get the safety, security and attention she so greatly deserves. People who give her time, open their hearts and want to walk through life with her will find a faithful, grateful and especially loving companion in Maraya. Who wants to get to know Maraya and finally give her the loving forever home she so greatly deserves? Maraya is vaccinated, chipped and spayed and is waiting in a foster home in Bulgaria for her big luck. The deposit for Maraya is 580 euros. You want to offer Maraya a suitable home? About Maraya

What life with Maraya looks like

Maraya is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maraya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maraya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maraya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maraya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maraya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maraya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maraya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
