Magdalena

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

♀, born approx. 9/2024, social - lovable - active in Spain Magdalena is a Podenco Andaluz female born around September 2024 with a shoulder height of approximately 50 cm. Magdalena came to the shelter with a litter of puppies, all of whom found a home. Her short life so far has not been easy, as she was probably abandoned and left to fend for herself; she was probably also mistreated, as she is very suspicious of men; she feels safer around women. Since then, the sweet dog has been eagerly waiting for a loving, suitable home and a cozy warm dog bed to live in security and well-being, and be happy. The cute, active and lovable dog is now looking for her final happiness, dedicated people who have a lot of time for her, challenge and encourage her, teach her the basics of dog training with calmness and patience, ideally combined with regular visits to dog school and actively integrate her into their daily lives, where Magdalena finally experiences the affection, love and care she has not had before. Magdalena is compatible with dogs of both sexes. She would be happy to be placed with other socially compatible dogs, preferably of similar age and size. A loving home is sought for Magdalena at active people who have a lot of time for her, as well as a desire and joy in activities with her and discover the world together, because she has probably not yet known much and is not a couch potato. A rural home and environment would be desirable and ideal for her. Cats and/or small animals should not be present in her future home. Magdalena is neutered, vaccinated, chipped and tested for Mediterranean diseases. She is located in a shelter in Andalusia/Spain. The deposit for Magdalena is 580 euros. About Magdalena

What life with Magdalena looks like

Magdalena is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Magdalena, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Magdalena?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Magdalena on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Magdalena if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Magdalena already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Magdalena isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Magdalena and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
