Mari &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Mari now lives in 23352 Lübeck. All the best, Mari. Heartfelt thanks, Frau S.-W. A true unique is on the search for the best possible home. The one we're talking about is Mari, our newest addition at our partners in Sevilla, where she has already stolen every heart. Mari "lived" on a balcony. Day in, day out, the female dog patiently waited, enduring heat and cold, receiving only some food and, if lucky, fresh water. Neighbors called the police multiple times, but it took weeks until Mari was finally seized—lying in her own feces, as no square inch of clean ground was left, now completely exhausted but—full of joy over the company of her rescuers and the subsequent ride to the care of our partners. Mari is a ray of sunshine, and that cannot be said enough. She has experienced such neglect, she has endured the loneliness in its worst form, and yet she has already forgiven and is happy every day to be here at the animal shelter. Wagging her tail, she greets every two- and four-legged friend, she has already formed many friendships and is a thoroughly friendly, open, and even playful young lady. Mari enjoys being cuddled and longs for the attention she was denied for so long. Despite her only being about two years old (as of June 2024), Mari is already very balanced and calm, she avoids any stress and prefers to stay close to the two-legged ones. For Mari, the animal shelter is already a clear improvement in her living conditions. What do you think this dog will feel like in a real home? Mari deserves the chance to sleep contentedly on the couch, snuggled up to her two-legged friend, and with the certainty that she will never again spend a night alone.

Mari lebt jetzt in 23352 Lübeck. Alles Gute, Mari. Herzlichen Dank, Frau S.-W.

About Mari &#8211

What life with Mari &#8211 looks like

Mari &#8211 is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mari &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mari &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mari &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mari &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mari &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mari &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mari &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
