Marley

Labrador Retriever Β· Male Β· Puppy Β· 7 months

Marley is a fun, clever boy who loves to engage with both training and play. He has so much energy and loves to greet everyone when out and about, so he'll be very happy having lots of human and doggy friends. He's very curious about new environments, and for the most part has been very confident and at ease in unfamiliar situations, especially with a little encouragement. He can get overexcited at times and we have been working with him on his tendency to jump up, so his adopters should be willing to continue this moving forwards. Marley generally walks well on the lead and is always keen to greet other dogs he comes across, eager to say hello and play! Being a Labrador, Marley loves his treats and enjoys playing particularly with hard toys and rope toys. He doesn't seem to enjoy the car much and has shown some restlessness around traffic, so lots of travelling wouldn't be suitable for him. Marley is a boisterous young Lab ready to go home with his forever family! Marley is able to live with children of secondary school age, and he could have another dog in the home pending a successful mix. He has lived with cats previously and gets excited around them, so a playful cat in the home would also be suitable for him. Marley has been working on his basic training which should be continued in his home, particularly helping him learn to contain his excitement and some impulse control. He is able to live in an open plan home, and whilst beneficial, a private secure garden is not a necessity. Historically Marley has done well being left alone so he can be left for short periods once he has settled in. He is very friendly with new people so will be happy having visitors in the home.

About Marley

What life with Marley looks like

Marley is a puppy labrador retriever dog waiting at Dogs Trust Salisbury in Newton Tony.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window β€” house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Salisbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Salisbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Marley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Salisbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
