Maryqueen

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Maryqueen is a cat who was rescued from a breeding site in the south of Rennes. She was the last kitten on site because the other 30 stray cats had already been taken care of by our association. Maryqueen was surely born on site as a result of the reproduction of the cats that were already there, so she didn't know humans, except to be wary of them while surviving on the streets. We thought we were done with this site after the intensive rescue of the 30 cats over several months, and we were not aware of her existence. Maryqueen had in fact moved further away. It was people who reported her to us several months later: she was living in the crawl space of a building. Based on her physical characteristics and behavior, we quickly made the link with the other cats. The rescue then happened urgently because she wasn't alone in the crawl space: she had given birth to 4 kittens who were already big and were about to reproduce. It was therefore not an option to let a new breeding site develop... The volunteers then worked hard (and that's an understatement) to give them a roof and get them out of this misery. Several years outdoors, having been born outside and far from humans, naturally caused a deep fear of humans. Maryqueen spent those years hiding and being afraid of the danger that humans could represent for her. This fear took time to fade: it took a lot of time, patience and gentleness for Maryqueen to understand that we weren't a threat to her. The foster home placement allowed us to accompany Maryqueen in a calm and safe environment. Being able to take time is essential to allow socialization with humans. The presence of other cats was also decisive for her on a daily basis, as it allowed her to feel reassured and to see that companion humans are actually pretty cool! This whole process proved rewarding: today this beauty is a playful, energetic cat who enjoys spending time with her companion humans. She is capable of entertaining herself and playing alone, but when she wants contact, she approaches and nudges to get petted. From her past outdoors, she retains a certain fear of stressful elements such as sudden movements and a too direct approach of the hand. For this reason, we recommend adoption within a family without young children and which will adopt appropriate gestures to maintain and develop the trust bond. Maryqueen is very fond of food, and will therefore appreciate some treats or a good pâtée to complete her happiness! She is waiting for a forever family. We are looking for a calm home with patient humans who will give her the time she needs to adapt and find her place. The desired environment is an apartment or house without access to the outside, and with at least one or more cats, whose presence is necessary for Maryqueen to be…

About Maryqueen

What life with Maryqueen looks like

Maryqueen is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at ADPK - Association Des P in adpk association des p tits korrigans.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maryqueen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maryqueen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ADPK - Association Des P handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maryqueen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maryqueen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ADPK - Association Des P will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maryqueen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maryqueen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ADPK - Association Des P early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maryqueen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
