This is Mercury, a handsome Cypriot-white tomcat whose birthdate is estimated to be December 11, 2019. After a life on the streets, he was brought to our shelter. Unfortunately, no one has claimed him and he has no chip/registration. It prevents a lot of animal suffering if there are data/address via chip/registration. We can reunite animals and their owner(s) with that. Mercury is stress-sensitive and still finds us humans exciting. Then it is important that there are hiding places and created, also in his future forever home. From here he can build up his sense of security and trust. When moving to his golden bed, he can take a step back again before moving forward as his owner(s) and environment become familiar. It is then important to keep an eye on him eating well. Here in the shelter, we see him already making small steps forward. Where he used to hide often, he now lies more in sight and stays lying down when we are also calm in movement and voice present. His menu consists of kibble and wet food, a good daily combination. Wet food contributes to a higher fluid level/hydration because it consists of more moisture (up to 85%) compared to kibble (up to 10%). For this sweetheart, we are looking for a golden bed in a quiet, predictable environment with patient adult resident(s), where children, other animals and conspecifics are not present. Mercury is placed as an indoor cat to minimize stress stimuli. Enough space(s) and freedom of movement are then preferred for him. Are you touched by his story and handsome appearance? Dit is Mercury, een knappe cypers-witte kater waarvan de geboortedatum wordt geschat op 11 december 2019. Na zijn zwerversbestaan is hij bij onze opvang binnengebracht. Helaas heeft er niemand zich voor hem gemeld en hij had géén chip/registratie. Het voorkomt veel dierenleed als er wel gegevens/adres zijn d.m.v. chip/registratie. Wij kunnen daarmee dieren en hun baasje(s) herenigen. Mercury is stressgevoelig en vindt ons mensen nog spannend. Dan is het belangrijk dat er schuilplekje(s) zijn en gecreëerd worden, ook in zijn toekomstige forever home. Van hieruit kan hij zijn gevoel van veiligheid en vertrouwen opbouwen. Bij een verhuizing naar zijn gouden mandje kan hij weer even een stapje terug doen alvorens het weer vooruit gaat naar gelang zijn baasje(s) en omgeving vertrouwd raken. Het is dan van belang om in de gaten te houden dat hij goed eet. Hier in de opvang zien wij hem al kleine stapjes vooruit maken. Waar hij eerst vaak verscholen lag, ligt hij nu vaker in het zicht en blijft liggen als wij er ook rustig in beweging en stem aanwezig zijn. Zijn menu bestaat uit brokjes en natvoer, een goede dagelijkse combinatie. Natvoer draagt bij aan een hoger vochtgehalte/hydratatie doordat het bestaat uit meer vocht (tot 85%) ten opzichte van brokken (tot 10%). Voor deze lieverd zijn wij op zoek naar een gouden mandje in een rustige, voorspelbare omgeving met geduldige volwassen bewoner(s), waar kinderen, andere dieren en soortgenoten niet aanwezig zijn. Mercury wordt geplaatst als binnenkat om stressprikkels te minimaliseren. Genoeg ruimte(s) en bewegingsvrijheid zijn dan wel favoriet voor hem.
