adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Merlin has found its own home! His story: The four charming puppies, Merlin, Biscuit, Goofy, and Camille, are looking for a home. The little mice had a tough start in life. Unwanted and unloved, they were seemingly abandoned and left to fend for themselves. Fortunately, they were found by our animal welfare workers:innen and are now in a foster home in Romania. The little Merlin is initially a bit shy, but who can blame him. Once he gets to know people, he's just sweet and playful. He shows puppy-like behavior and gets along with dogs and cats. The little black beauty with the white stripe on her chest and the "milk mustache" brings every heart to a higher beat. His paws look as if he had walked through white paint. He's likely to grow to be medium-sized. With his sweet button nose and ears that can't decide if they want to stand or not, it's hard to resist him. Merlin is looking for people who won't have too many expectations of him and will show him how a normal dog life works. He's still a baby and has a lot to learn. Sometimes, a little mishap shouldn't be held against him, and Merlin should always be guided with a positive training style. He's looking forward to his new life with nature walks, lots of snuggling time, and also a visit to puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in their first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding teenage years are approaching. The hormone chaos turns the little rascals' lives upside down. They "forget" a lot of what they've learned and their ears are on high alert. Therefore, it's especially important to consistently but lovingly train them during this phase. And there's also good news: This phase will pass! After positive Then he is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. His EU pet passport is also ready to go. Has Merlin also charmed you? Then don't hesitate. He's looking forward to your inquiry. Thanks Marcel! You gave Merlin his name and thus an identity. Status: 23.12.

Stand: 23.12.2024

About Merlin

What life with Merlin looks like

Merlin is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Merlin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Merlin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Merlin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Merlin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Merlin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Merlin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Merlin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
