adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt Mia! adoption requirements adoption process The sweet Mia has found her home! Her story: Zalau, Romania. Mia is a sugary sweet puppy with soft paws. It's hard to believe that she must have lived on the streets for a lifetime and possibly given birth to many puppies without anyone taking care of her. Just in time, we were able to take her in to spare her the life and death in the public shelter. To help Mia find a home as quickly as possible, we would like to introduce this fluffy mixed-breed girl with a soft gray-white coat to you, which greets two-legged beings with warmth and comfort. At 46 cm shoulder height and weighing 17 kg, the approximately 3-year-old Mia is a female dog with a lot of potential. Calm sniffs and walks and shared playtime would certainly be right for Mia. Due to her modest past, Mia appreciates the small joys of life and is easily satisfied. A cozy cuddle basket, many cuddles, and simply the company of her favorite people would likely bring her happiness. The four-legged ABC is still completely unknown to Mia, like it is to most animal welfare organizations. She must first get to know and understand a life in the house and everything that goes with it. But with a large portion of understanding, patience, and the support of her people, Mia will surely become a little model student. The friendly Mia also gets along well with her fellow animals and will certainly inspire one or two animal friends nearby. Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to determine how she reacts to cats. We hope very much that our girl would then be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and in possession of an EU pet passport. Who is touched by Mia's irresistible puppy eyes and is inspired to have her forever in their life? Even a foster home would greatly benefit her. Many thanks to Emanuela B.! You have given Mia an identity.

Vielen Dank Emanuela B.! Du hast Mia eine Identität geschenkt.

About Mia

What life with Mia looks like

Mia is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
