Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

💗 MIKA 💗 ANDY (MAR) 📍 Location: Austria, operating facility in Stainz — can be visited on-site at any time. 🐾 General Information: • Name: Mika • Age: born on June 2, 2024 • Gender: female • Breed: Staffordshire mix 🐾 Health: • General condition: fit and agile • Fully vaccinated according to the standard protocol, rabies vaccinated (microchipped & EU pet passport available) • Spayed • Weight: approx. 22 kg • Height: approx. 47 cm The descriptions of the dogs provided by the foster homes are based on current impressions from their time on site and do not guarantee the dog’s future behavior or development. 🐾 Character & Behavior: Mika is a cheerful, people-friendly, and incredibly energetic young dog who absolutely loves spending time with humans and receiving their attention. As a sporty and clever little soul, she shows great eagerness to learn and every day proves how much she enjoys discovering new things together with her people. She gets along well with other dogs, though during playtime she can sometimes still be a bit rough and physical. She behaves friendly toward children. Her reaction to cats has not yet been tested. Right now, Mika is working very enthusiastically on mastering everyday rules: she’s not yet fully house-trained and pulls on the leash in certain situations, but thanks to her quick learning ability, she makes great progress every single day. With a clear daily routine, patient guidance, and the right mental and physical stimulation, she’ll grow into a wonderful and loyal companion. 🐾 Her Story: Mika’s past leaves a sad impression: she was found completely abandoned and tied up in an empty house—without water and without food. Her rescuer acted immediately, brought her to safety, and had her receive veterinary care, as the dog was severely weakened and malnourished. Thanks to loving care, good food, and plenty of attention, Mika has fully recovered and now wants to leave her sad chapter behind forever. 🐾 Dream Home: • Not suitable for first-time dog owners: only for experienced breeders (experience with Staffordshire/Staffordshire mixes required). • Active people who enjoy lots of exercise, mental and physical stimulation, and attending dog training classes. • A home with loving consistency, clear rules, and the necessary patience for further training (leash manners, house training). • Children in the family should already be older and more stable, and sensitized to handling rescue dogs. 💌 How You Can Help: ❣️ Adopt ❣️ Offer foster care ❣️ Become a sponsor ❣️ Share—so Mika can find her forever family 🐾❤️

About Mika

What life with Mika looks like

Mika is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hund sucht Hütte in Austria.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mika, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mika?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hund sucht Hütte handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mika on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mika if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hund sucht Hütte will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mika already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mika isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hund sucht Hütte early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mika and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
