adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Mika has found his people! His story: A hungry dog doesn't dream of a palace, but of a bowl of food. These words aptly describe the sad story of stray Mika. This approximately 2-year-old male dog was found on the edge of a busy street. His emaciated body revealed constant, severe hunger, while a mark around his neck indicated that he had worn a too-tight collar or rope for far too long. Mika is currently in a private foster home in Romania and shows every day what a super sweet young dog he is. He quickly adapted to the local surroundings and has been friendly and open from the start. Mika has a great passion for people, especially children, to whom he makes contact in a particularly gentle and affectionate way. Mika thoroughly enjoys the cuddles, and his gaze clearly shows how much they mean to him. He also gets along excellently with the other dogs and even cats living there – a true all-rounder in every way. mixed-breed male dog Mika is distinguished by his black fur, which stands out beautifully with a white chest spot and a light tip of the tail. The four white paws and the evenly brown accents on his face give him a sympathetic look. With a shoulder height of about 40 cm, he belongs to the smaller dogs and currently weighs only 14 kg. In his foster home, Mika has already taken his first steps into the world of a house dog. However, his main focus, as is common in Romania, is still outdoors. Therefore, he will still have much to learn, discover, and understand in his future home. With a little patience and understanding, the uncomplicated young pup will surely integrate quickly and soon become an indispensable part of his new family. Mika looks forward to regular exercise through daily walks and playtimes. He is excited about exciting excursions always close to the side of his favorite people and of course also about the small, but equally valuable and unknown things for him like a cozy dog bed to rest, a selection of chew bones and balls, and occasionally a tasty treat. Who has a heart for this extraordinary four-legged friend? Even an offer of a foster home would be a great gain for him. Many thanks, dear Susann G., for taking over his nametag sponsorship. As of: 22.07. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

About Mika

What life with Mika looks like

Mika is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mika, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mika?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mika on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mika if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mika already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mika isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mika and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
