Adopt Mikesch

adoption requirements adoption process Ask about this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Ask about this cat now! Mikesch was born on the street and had to learn to be careful early on. He was found with his siblings suffering from a respiratory infection. Thanks to quick medical care, he has recovered well. Unfortunately, one of his siblings did not survive this difficult time. Mikesch is a sensitive, shy kitten. In new situations, he hides at first and may even hiss out of fear. However, he is not aggressive, just insecure. He needs time, patience, and calm people who show him that he is safe. He feels much more comfortable with other cats and strongly relies on them. Therefore, he will not be rehomed as a single tomcat. Dogs have not been tested yet. Outdoor access is not suitable for him. He needs a protected home where he can gradually build trust. Regarding his travel arrangements, Mikesch is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He is negative for FIV and FeLV. Whoever takes Mikesch in will give a cautious little tomcat the chance for a life without fear - and will see how shyness slowly turns into trust and affection. A heartfelt thank you to godmother Ruth M., who supports Mikesch and makes his way to a safe home possible. Status: 04.03.

Stand: 04.03.2026

About Mikesch

What life with Mikesch looks like

Mikesch is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mikesch, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mikesch?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mikesch on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mikesch if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mikesch already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mikesch isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mikesch and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
