Profile Age: born around 2011 Gender: female, spayed Height: approx. 48 cm Character: affectionate and cuddly with trusted people; cheerful, strong-willed Child-friendly: yes Species-friendly: yes, but sometimes snappy during first contact Cat-friendly: yes Hunting instinct: yes Suitable for first-time dog owners: some dog experience is desired Desired home: loving people with lots of time, preferably with a garden and only dog in a rural area, without stairs In Germany since: March 2021 Hello everyone, I'm Mila and I'm waiting for you. I spent many years in my home country Romania, where I lived in a shelter for three years. Then I was given a golden ticket to Germany and I had the chance to travel to a great foster home in Schleswig-Holstein. Here I am blooming, forgetting my past and eagerly waiting to finally find my own home and people for life... I am a thoroughly cheerful female dog. After I have now properly settled in with my foster family, it also shows that I am a very strong-willed female dog. I am generally compatible with other animals, although I am not always the friendliest during the first contact and I also like to tease other dogs. Therefore, I need a strong and clear leadership from my humans. Therefore, you should have some dog experience to show me the right way. With my trusted people, I am very open and curious. I am a super affectionate companion, very cuddly and I want to be always by your side. I no longer need big, wild adventures. I rather enjoy calm trips, walks in nature and meetings with my dog friends. So I would be very happy about an only dog, but it shouldn't be a young rascal. By the way, I also live with cats in my foster home, which works smoothly. And so I enjoy my life, spread good mood and hope to be seen by the right people very soon. My ears are definitely on standby and I hope every day for the good news! Your Mila Mila is dewormed, treated for fleas, microchipped, vaccinated and spayed with a European passport for an adoption fee of 260 € with V. rehomed. Furthermore, a blood test for Mediterranean diseases was carried out before the travel arrangements, which was negative. These wonderful photos of Mila were kindly provided by Sabrina Zimmermann. We sincerely thank you for your voluntary work! Private photos of Mila: Pictures from past times in Romania:

About Mila J

What life with Mila J looks like

Mila J is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mila J, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mila J?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mila J on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mila J if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mila J already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mila J isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mila J and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
