Milena

Female · Adult · 8 years

Origin Country: Hungary The wonderful Milena was found wandering homeless on November 24, 2025, in the community of Lajosmizse and reported to the animal shelter. Why Milena was traveling alone, we will never know, as she was not microchipped and had not been reported missing. Even after all these years, it remains incomprehensible to us how one can fail to miss their faithful companion. Milena waits like all shelter residents for the chance to travel to a new, happy life with loving people who will never leave her behind and show her how wonderful life can be. Despite everything, Milena seems to have not made too many bad experiences with humans, as she approaches us two-legged beings openly, with an open heart, and shows herself to be a big cuddle bug. She loves cuddles and human affection, and she can never get enough of it. She needs a lot of love and closeness. She already runs well on the leash, but there are still some fine points to work on, and she will quickly catch up on the missed dog ABC if her new people guide her with love and clarity, because she wants to please her people and spend a lot of quality time with them. The untapped talents within her will then be discovered by her new people. Milena does not find her fellow animals cool and lives alone in a kennel, wanting to reign as a single princess in her future home. For our charming Milena, we are looking for outgoing and dog-experienced two-legged beings who are fans of this dog breed. Kind people who can adequately care for Milena, give her a home filled with cuddles, care, security, extensive and varied walks, sports activities, and consistent and loving guidance. Who has a cozy, dog bed for Milena? Milena is missing a few teeth. On April 5, 2026, a voluntary, Hungarian helper wrote: "Milena came into the care of the animal shelter in November 2025. In April 2026, she was given a walk by her mentor. Milena is a very loving, friendly, and sweet female dog. She immediately bonded with her mentor. She ran nicely on the leash, but the walk had to be interrupted again and again because she longs so much for cuddles and affection. She is cuddly, very people-oriented, and full of love. She also immediately accepted the affection of other mentors. Milena is a true 'love ball.'." She does not get along well with other dogs, so she would like to move to a new home as a single princess to a family where she finds her place. Since Milena is a mixed-breed, you will need to check with your local community about their pet licensing requirements if you are interested. Milena is ready to travel.

DE·Show original

About Milena

What life with Milena looks like

Milena is a large adult dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milena, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milena?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milena on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milena if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milena already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milena isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milena and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
