adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Milko has found a home! His story: A Big Heart on Four Feet Milko is a gentle soul eager to explore the big world. Since mid-last year, Milko has been in a foster home, gathering experiences there. Now, he longs for people who will give him a home where he can finally belong. At just 65 cm and about 35 kg, and only 11 months old, Milko is a handsome, clever, lively, and loving companion. He has proven to be fully socializable, getting along excellently with all other dogs. He lives with dogs and cats in the foster home and would be happy as either a singleton or as a second dog. In his foster home, there are small children with whom Milko snuggles and plays. Milko is an absolute all-rounder: he loves long walks, curiously sniffs around, and walks calmly and relaxed on the leash. Milko is a more quiet and unobtrusive dog. If he gets his 5 minutes, he might dash through the grass – a sight that shows he has fun with life. But after playing and running around, the cuddle time comes – and he enjoys it to the fullest. He is curious, house-trained, and learns quickly. Even as an office dog, Milko suits well, lying in his box and happily waiting for someone to come by – in general, an absolute dream dog!! Would YOU like to meet the wonderful male dogs?. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped. Some symptoms here are age-related. This animal is not yet neutered/spayed.

About Milko

What life with Milko looks like

Milko is a extra-large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
