Milo

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

Milo is a young male whose start in life was far from ordinary. His mother was found heavily pregnant in a field in Romania and fortunately taken in by a veterinarian who runs a small shelter. There she was able to safely give birth to her three puppies - two females and Milo. Milo grew up in the shelter with his siblings. While he was safe and well cared for, he had few opportunities to explore the world. All the things that are taken for granted by many dogs - meeting new people, new sounds, unfamiliar environments, walks or everyday situations - are new to him. As a result, Milo is currently cautious and uncertain, especially around strangers and in unfamiliar situations. He needs time, patience and people who don't overwhelm him too much. Trust must grow slowly with him. But this is also his chance: Milo is young and has his whole life ahead of him. With a calm, understanding home, fixed structures and loving support, he can learn step by step that the world is not so frightening. His new people should be willing to give him the time he needs, without expectations. Therefore, we are looking for a patient and empathetic home for Milo, where he can arrive at his own pace. People who do not expect the perfect, immediately uncomplicated dog, but enjoy experiencing small progress with Milo.

DE·Show original

About Milo

What life with Milo looks like

Milo is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
