Milo

Patterdale Terrier Β· Male Β· Adult Β· 7 years

Milo could live with children 10+ and could potentially live with other dogs, but no cats or small animals. Milo is a lovely little lad who is very people-oriented. He loves saying hello to his humans and making friends with everyone he meets! He’s a very energetic chap – he loves to be on the go and is an intelligent boy too, he needs an active family who not only can keep up with him physically, but who can also provide him with the mental stimulation he needs to keep him happy and healthy in both body and mind. Milo can be reactive towards other dogs when seeing them at a distance, but is much calmer when they are up close. He needs a family who are confident and capable of manging this behaviour and working on some training to help him deal with his frustration. He would benefit from being walked in quiet areas and at quiet times of day to avoid overwhelming him whilst this training is ongoing. Milo sadly arrived into our care as a stray and so we have no background information on the life he lived prior to his arrival here at the shelter. He has been such a confident, sociable and friendly lad to spend time with, he’s a typical terrier – full of beans and raring to go! He would absolutely love to find a forever family who are able to take him on lots of lovely adventures, we have no doubt he will reward them by providing tons of laughs and affection!

About Milo

What life with Milo looks like

Milo is a small adult patterdale terrier dog waiting at Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter in Newcastle.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Milo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
