Mina

Maltese · Female · Adult · 8 years

I am 9 years old and a beautiful Bichón Maltese dog. Although I am no longer a puppy, I have something much more valuable: experience giving love, companionship, and affection every day. Bichons are known for their sweet, affectionate, and very family-oriented nature. We love being close to people, accompanying them around the house, sleeping nearby, and turning any quiet moment into something special. We are intelligent, sensitive, and very loyal dogs. In particular, I am calm, well-behaved, and adore gentle strokes and sun naps. ☀️ At 9 years old, I have the perfect serenity: I no longer do babyish tricks, but I still have a desire to go for walks, play for a bit, and receive lots of affection. I adapt very well to quiet homes, older people, loving families, or anyone who wants a truly faithful companion. I dream of finding a family that will love me forever, understanding that adult dogs also deserve a chance. I promise to return it with unconditional love, tender looks, and companionship in the good and difficult days. If you give me a chance, you won't just adopt a little dog: you win a friend who will love you with all their heart. 🐾 For more information on adoptions:

About Mina

What life with Mina looks like

Mina is a adult maltese dog waiting at Animales Rioja in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animales Rioja handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animales Rioja will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animales Rioja early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
