adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this cat now! The pretty Mira was found alone and homeless on the street. There, she fought for her survival and scavenged through garbage for food. Exposed to cold, hunger, and dangers, the quiet cat managed to survive, until she was fortunately taken in by our foster home. From there, she can now search for a beautiful new home. The hard life on the street has left its mark on Mira. The sweet female cat is very shy and fearful. Sudden movements and new environments make her initially afraid. Therefore, Mira is looking for a home with calm people who understand what she has gone through and who can give her the time she needs to settle in and feel safe. If you give her this time and show her that she doesn't need to be afraid, she will surely soon lower her defenses and fully embrace her new family. Due to these circumstances, we are looking for a home for Mira that is suitable for apartment living, so she can arrive safely in her new life. Additionally, we would like a home for her where at least one other cat already lives or with whom she could move in. Mira enjoys the company of other cats, and perhaps a more outgoing cat by her side could help her thaw. For her travel arrangements, she has of course been vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and tested negative for FiV and FelV. She holds her EU pet passport ready, and for an adoption fee, she can start her journey into a new life. If you can provide Mira with a warm, cozy bed and extend your hand to her, we look forward to your contact. We thank Sue S. very much – thanks to you, Mira has received her wonderful name and thus the chance at happiness! Date: 29.05.

About Mira

What life with Mira looks like

Mira is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
