Moana

German Shepherd · Female · Young · 2 years

Moana - young German Shepherd mix puppy seeks her forever home Moana is a young German Shepherd mix puppy currently living in our Spanish partner animal shelter. The pretty puppy was found on the street and initially thought to be an abandoned dog. Later it turned out that she had run away from home. However, her owner decided not to take her back - so a new chapter began for Moana at the shelter. Since she has only recently been there, the caregivers are just getting to know her. Like any dog, Moana needs some time to get used to the unfamiliar situation and gain trust. As a German Shepherd mix, she probably brings many breed-typical characteristics with her. German Shepherds are generally intelligent, people-oriented and eager to learn dogs that want an intimate bond with their humans. They don't just want physical exercise but also mental stimulation and clear, reliable leadership. Unfortunately, we do not know how much Moana has been able to experience so far. Therefore, her future owners should be willing to teach her everything important in peace - from arriving at a household to the small and big challenges of everyday life. We wish for Moana a loving home with people who are aware of their responsibility for a dog and give her the time she needs to arrive. With patience, understanding and a good portion of shared adventures, the young puppy has every chance of developing into a wonderful companion. Here is Moana's video

About Moana

What life with Moana looks like

Moana is a large young adult german shepherd dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
