Moira sucht ihren Ruhepol

Mixed Breed · Female

Moira was an emergency and was taken over by a friendly animal shelter. We were immediately enthusiastic about her beautiful little face. She has a thick skull behind her big radar-like ears. She has a strong-willed character and needs consistent owners who can build on her existing training foundations. She is very active, and we can easily imagine that after Moira's arrival, a fitness studio will no longer be necessary. Well, she is like all women, always ready for a surprise. Moira came back to us due to separation, lack of time, and being overwhelmed. Despite this, the above description regarding her temperament is still valid today, even though she is now a good apartment dog and house-trained. She can ride in a car, stay alone at home, and knows some basic commands. She is well motivated with treats and toys. Many efforts have been made, but it lacked the final touch of consistency and Moira lacked respect towards her owners, which caused all efforts to fail in integrating Moira into the new living situation. Moira's need for movement has been addressed with puppy kindergarten and regular exercise, unfortunately she lacks patience and calmness; she hasn't properly learned how to relax and focus on the other end of the leash and submit, especially concerning other animals. We suspect that deficits may have occurred during the critical socialization phase as a puppy since she was already rough with other dogs as a young dog. Even during training where Moira showed great potential, there was a lack of final determination; Moira often decided for herself and even injured other dogs. She has a strong prey drive, and playful children are sometimes considered as such in her opinion. These and other deficits need to be worked on further. When walking, Moira always wears a Halti, which can be used when needed. Moira goes with experienced walkers who are consistent and careful with her. To properly tire her out, Moira occasionally plays as a cart dog; one of our walkers even got a scooter specifically for this, which he uses to go through the forest with Moira at a good pace. Moira currently takes daily medication for my digestive system and joint supplement. Additionally, she is on a specific type of food, as it turned out that I am an allergy sufferer. Therefore, she definitely needs people with dog experience, sporting ambitions, and the patience to give Moira calmness and security, so that the leadership role is not part of her responsibilities. Small animals and small children should not be in the new home. We hope to find a suitable home for Moira quickly as a single dog, because the stress level at the animal shelter is not calming for such an energetic female dog. Besides fun, she should learn to just lie still with her new owners and start a relaxed dog life... Closing sentence for the adoption text: Thanks to your sponsorship, Moira can also look for a foster home. If you are interested, please contact us!

About Moira sucht ihren Ruhepol

What life with Moira sucht ihren Ruhepol looks like

Moira sucht ihren Ruhepol is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moira sucht ihren Ruhepol, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moira sucht ihren Ruhepol?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moira sucht ihren Ruhepol on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moira sucht ihren Ruhepol if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moira sucht ihren Ruhepol already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moira sucht ihren Ruhepol isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moira sucht ihren Ruhepol and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
