Molly

Jack Russell Terrier · Female · Senior · 14 years

Molly is a small, nervous girl who likes you to go slow with her when she first meets you. All she really wants is a new best friend to cuddle with, so once you've gained her trust she will be your best friend. Molly walks well on the lead and likes a gentle stroll but can find busier areas with heavy traffic worrying so would prefer walks in quieter areas. Molly is missing her home comforts and is really looking forward to finding her forever home. Molly is a sweet older lady looking for her retirement home. She is a bit of a nervous girl, so would prefer a home with a patient family who can give her the time she needs to come out of her shell. Due to being more worried, she would prefer all children in the home to be secondary school aged and able to give her the space she needs. Similarly, she would like to be the only dog in the home but can live with other small pets, as she has lived with calm cats before. Molly likes having a safe space to go to when she is overwhelmed and will take herself to her den when she needs some rest. Once you've gained Molly's trust, she is the cuddliest girl in the world. A quieter home would be ideal for her, where she can spend her days cuddling up on the sofa with her family for company.

About Molly

What life with Molly looks like

Molly is a small senior jack russell terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Molly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Molly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Molly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Molly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Molly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Molly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Molly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
