Monet is a very worried little lady who came to us from a breeder and was understandably very worried when she arrived. She relied heavily on the other dogs around her for comfort and reassurance and could be very skittish when approached and was in need of lots of TLC. Monet has now been in a wonderful foster home for a few weeks and, although the first couple of days were very stressful for her, she is slowly starting to settle and discover the comforts of home life for the first time ever. Initially, she spent much of her time pacing around the house and garden, but she is now making progress in little baby steps. She takes much of her confidence from the resident dogs in her foster home and loves following them into the garden and cuddling up with them on their beds or the sofa. She sleeps quietly downstairs on the sofa with her canine friends and is happiest when her whole pack is together. She is curious and likes to keep an eye on everything that is happening. Monet had never lived in a home before moving to foster and is doing well with her house training, mostly taking herself outside during the day, but her adopters will need to be kind and understanding as she continues to learn in her new home. While Monet is becoming more comfortable in her surroundings, she remains very flighty and fearful and is not yet comfortable with handling or being stroked. As she is still quite worried about being handled, she can panic if she feels overwhelmed or pushed out of her comfort zone and may become distressed and choose to make the wrong decision in her fear. For this reason, harness training has not yet begun. She also has a remarkable ability to spring into action when frightened, so her future home will need a very secure garden with tall fences. Monet will need an adult-only home and will need at least one other kind, confident resident dogs that she can rely on. Her adopters will need experience with scared ex-breeding dogs and, most importantly, the time, patience and understanding to allow Monet to build her confidence and trust at her own pace. She is still very much at the beginning of her journey, but seeing her starting to settle, follow her canine friends and enjoy some of the comforts of home life is lovely progress. With the right family and plenty of patience, we hope that Monet will continue to blossom and that, in time, her sweet personality will shine through. Monet has had 12 teeth extracted and would benefit from a soft food diet. Monet has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
