Adopt Monte

Mixed Breed · Male

From Monte we have known each other since March 2024, he comes from the area of Pleśna. After being accepted into the Shelter, he was a dog that could not wear a collar or walk on a leash. We worked through his issues with him, taught him to walk on a leash, which made him open up and now he is one of the most adorable dogs in our animal shelter and finally fulfills his needs. He has become much braver. His behavior resembles a large puppy. Monte is a dog who learns best through building relationships. He responds very well to positive reinforcement, loves getting treats as rewards. He currently loves walks, and occasionally he may pull on the leash, which shows that he has already forgotten about his problem. He gets along well with other dogs, does not show hunting behaviors, nor excessive excitement towards cats. He is in the final stage of healing from a small fracture in the front paw, so he sporadically avoids the limb, but the treatment process is proceeding properly. Fun fact – Monte, despite his seemingly not very athletic physique, can climb fences. He is an exceptionally sensitive and cheerful dog, and we see a tendency for him to become a sofa lion or a happy house resident with a garden. 🗓️ At the Shelter since: March 2024 🚶 Attitude towards people: very social, open, friendly 🐶 Temperament: gentle, very cheerful 🐕 Attitude towards dogs: builds proper relationships with other dogs 🐈 Attitude towards cats: does not show excessive excitement 👶 Attitude towards children:

About Monte

What life with Monte looks like

Monte is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Azyl dla Zwierząt w Tarnowie in Tarnów.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Monte, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Monte?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Azyl dla Zwierząt w Tarnowie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Monte on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Monte if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Azyl dla Zwierząt w Tarnowie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Monte already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Monte isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Azyl dla Zwierząt w Tarnowie early rather than rehoming privately; they know Monte and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
