Moppet

Mixed Breed Cat · Female

Moppet came into our care alongside her mum, Tabitha, and her siblings. When she first arrived, she was suffering from cat flu and needed a little extra TLC while she recovered. Thankfully, she has made a great recovery and is now thriving and ready to find her forever home. This gorgeous girl is full of fun and has a playful, affectionate personality. She loves nothing more than chasing toys, especially feather wands, and can often be found pouncing, leaping, and entertaining herself with her favourite games. Moppet also enjoys the company of both her feline friends and humans. While Moppet is happy to be around people, she isn't particularly keen on being picked up or held for long periods. Because of this, she would be best suited to a home with sensible children aged 8 years and over who can respect her boundaries and allow her to interact on her own terms. Moppet enjoys the company of other cats and would be happy to live with a friendly feline companion. During her time in foster care, she was also comfortable around small dogs, so she may be able to share her new home with a cat-friendly dog, provided introductions are carried out slowly and carefully. Moppet is a sweet, playful young cat with plenty of love and personality to share. She is looking for a family who will give her the time, patience, and understanding she needs to settle in and thrive.

About Moppet

What life with Moppet looks like

Moppet is a small adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at USPCA.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Moppet, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moppet?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. USPCA handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moppet on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moppet if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — USPCA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moppet already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moppet isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with USPCA early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moppet and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
