Moppie

English Bulldog · Female

HEY THERE!!! I’m Moppie—actually, my full name is Moppelien, but I go by Moppie! I’m a friendly and cheerful French Bulldog who absolutely LOVES people. I enjoy getting attention, love going for walks, and then I just lie around basking in the sun—when the weather permits, of course! Inside the house, I’m a calm companion, and I really love having visitors drop by. I enjoy taking multiple walks each day and walk nicely on the leash. When my owner grabs my leash, I patiently wait until I’m properly leashed—that’s good, right? Outside, though, I do have quite the hunting instinct, oops! Cats, birds, and rabbits totally pique my interest, and when I spot them, I can get completely absorbed in watching them. Luckily, my owner helps me refocus by walking in the opposite direction. I’m a very well-behaved dog who’s easy to approach—even when I’m sleeping. Still, I like to let people know when someone’s at the door; I’ll excitedly run to the door and give a little bark! Unfortunately, I do have a medical “backpack”—or rather, a backpack. Due to allergies, I get special food, and like many French Bulldogs, I have a very short snout. Because of this, I can get more easily winded in warm weather and need extra cooling and rest. That might sound like a lot, but with the right care, I thoroughly enjoy life!

HOII!!! Of eigenlijk backpack.

About Moppie

What life with Moppie looks like

Moppie is a adult english bulldog dog waiting at DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam in Amsterdam.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moppie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moppie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moppie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moppie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moppie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moppie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moppie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
