Adopt Puddie Pud

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Adult · 7 years

Hi! I'm Puddie Pud. Yes, you heard that right: Puddie Pud. My caretakers found this the perfect name for such a sturdy staffie as me! When you first meet me, don't expect fireworks or somersaults. I'm more about getting all the important stuff out of the way first. Peeing. Sniffing. Pooping. Priorities, people. Once that's all done, I'll take a quiet look at who you are. I do find new people pretty cool, but also a bit exciting. So I usually act like you're invisible. Nothing personal! That's just my tactic! First I act like I don't see you at all, and then, poof, I'm sniffing your nose as if you've been my favorite person for years. Petting? Eh… yeah… early in the meeting, maybe not yet. I stay just out of reach. You never know. But once I decide you're okay, I transform from an aloof Stafford into a deluxe snuggle-plagued dog. Then I crawl right onto your lap. Or at least half of me, because I'm not exactly small, huh. And then… my biggest passion! BALLS! Oh, man. When you throw a ball, I transform into a sort of muscular rocket with ears. I run as if I'm competing in the Olympics and no one has told me I can't win a gold medal. I find it fantastic. Really. You throw, I run. You throw again, I run faster. You stop… and I look at you with the "Why? Are you done? Will I have to call the vet?" look. Letting go is still a bit tricky. For a treat, I'll definitely let you. But if you want it done differently, we'll have to practice. But there's more. Give me a tug toy, and I'll show you how to make a tornado with just your neck muscles. I shake that thing in all directions. Left, right, up, down… you should definitely watch out for your ankles and shins, because I might accidentally take them with my enthusiasm. I mean: if the toy flies, I fly too. I am, after all, a passionate dog. So, maybe I'm not the kind of dog who jumps right at the bars when you walk by. Maybe I don't immediately stand out in the hustle. But if you give me a little time… if you let me pee, poop, sniff, and admire my best-in-show indifference… then you'll discover that I'm actually a super cute, sensitive, and funny snuggle rocket. And maybe, very maybe, you're the one where I can park my ball, my tug toy, and my heart.

Hoi! Eerst even alle belangrijke zaken regelen. Plassen. Snuffelen. Poepen. Prioriteiten, mensen. BALLEN! O, man. Groetjes, Puddie Pud

About Puddie Pud

What life with Puddie Pud looks like

Puddie Pud is a small adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam in Amsterdam.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Puddie Pud, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Puddie Pud?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Puddie Pud on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Puddie Pud if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Puddie Pud already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Puddie Pud isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam early rather than rehoming privately; they know Puddie Pud and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
