Animal shelter Tenerife (Sabine) Update 10 March 2026: It's high time for an update because a big change has occurred. Ely and Motti have moved to a colleague animal shelter in Germany. Here on Tenerife, they were both almost hopeless and had been so long unseen. When two spots became available at our colleague's smaller animal shelter, we had no doubt that it would be a great chance for Ely and Motti. And we made a good choice because both puppies loved it from the very first minute. They even did better than expected. Both adapted themselves incredibly quickly despite all the new impressions, the long journey, and... suddenly 20 degrees colder and full of snow! That was a party, their first time playing in the snow. Watch the videos of both, enjoying it to the fullest. Isn't it amazing? That zest for life, gratitude, how they adapt and enjoy every moment... We hope they are now closer to their well-deserved place. That they are ready for the next step and will grab every opportunity with four paws and wagging tail, they have already clearly proven. And now they are also a bit closer to NL / Belgium for an adoption! + a new video added. 10 January 2026: The incredibly sweet, funny, touching, and smart Motti got to go on a trip. She shows with all her enthusiasm that her condition does not hold her back in making fun. Three new photos (after the profile photo) and a new video full of joy have been added. 23 July 2025: a new video added. 31 March 2025: 7 new photos added. Input 4 February 2025: Motti was about three weeks old when she came to us. She had balance problems from the start and walked very unsteadily. We felt that she somehow did not coordinate her limbs properly. She also seemed generally underdeveloped. Still, Motti enjoyed life to the fullest, had a lot of energy, and ran around just as much as her brothers and sisters. Our veterinarians suspected ataxia, a neurological condition, but have not yet been able to determine the cause. A CT scan on the other island, Gran Canaria, also did not provide a clear diagnosis. Despite no clearer diagnosis than the suspicion of ataxia or developmental delay, Motti has continued to be a sweet, cheerful, and enthusiastic dog. She often does somersaults because she runs full speed across the yard and her hind legs are often faster than her front legs. But she doesn't have a problem with that, she shakes it off and runs happily on! Fortunately, Motti is doing well in general and is always happy and enthusiastic. She is an active and delightful go-getter who gallops through the world with a lot of positive energy, and in her own unique way! Motti is a podenco mix of about 5 months old and loves cuddles and playing. She gets along well with her mates at the animal shelter and just makes a party of everything. Her zest for life is highly contagious! Because she has coordination issues while running, she can appear a bit "clumsy." Motti is still young and possibly not fully grown, but at 8 months old, she is already quite a size, she is now 49 cm. Motti is people-oriented and delightfully curious. The "limits" we see... she clearly does not feel, she is too busy learning, enjoying, and cuddling. This cheerful lady is ready for her own home.

Asiel Tenerife (Sabine) Update 10 maart 2026: Hoog tijd voor een update want er is een grote verandering geweest. Ely en Motti zijn verhuisd naar een collega asiel in Duitsland. Hier op Tenerife waren ze beide haast kansloos en al zo lang onzichtbaar. Toen er twee plekjes vrij kwamen bij onze collega’s in een kleinschaligere opvang/asiel hadden we geen enige twijfel, die kans zou voor Ely en Motti zijn! En we hebben goed gekozen want beide hondjes vonden het geweldig vanaf minuut één. Ze deden het zelfs boven verwachting goed. Beide pasten zich ontzettend snel aan ondanks al die nieuwe indrukken, de grote reis en... opeens 20 graden minder en volop sneeuw! Dat was een feest, voor het eerst los in de sneeuw. Zie de filmpjes van beide, volop genietend. Is het niet geweldig? Die levenslust, dankbaarheid, hoe ze zich aanpassen en van elk moment volop genieten... We hopen dat ze nu dichterbij hun welverdiende eigen plek zijn. Dat ze klaar zijn voor die volgende stap en elke kans met vier poten en kwispelend aan zullen pakken, hebben ze alweer duidelijk bewezen. En nu verblijven ze ook nog eens een stukje dichterbij NL / België voor een eventuele adoptie! + een nieuwe video toegevoegd. 10 januari 2026: De ontzettend lieve, grappige, aandoenlijke en slimme Motti mocht mee voor een uitje. Ze toont met al haar enthousiasme maar weer aan dat haar aandoening haar echt niet tegenhoudt in het maken van plezier. Er zijn 3 nieuwe foto's toegevoegd (na de profielfoto) en een nieuwe video vol vreugde. 23 juli 2025: nieuwe video toegevoegd. 31 maart 2025: 7 nieuwe foto's toegevoegd. Input 4 februari 2025: Motti was ongeveer drie weken oud toen ze bij ons kwam. Ze had vanaf het begin evenwichtsproblemen en liep erg onstabiel. We hadden het gevoel dat ze op de een of andere manier haar ledematen niet gecoördineerd kreeg. Ze leek ook over het algemeen onderontwikkeld. Toch geniet Motti met volle teugen van het leven, heeft veel energie en houdt net zoveel van rondrennen als haar broertjes en zusjes. Onze dierenartsen vermoedden ataxie, een neurologische aandoening, maar hebben de oorzaak nog niet kunnen achterhalen. Ook een CT-scan op het andere eiland, Gran Canaria, leverde geen duidelijke diagnose op. Ondanks dat er nog geen duidelijkere diagnose is gevonden dan het vermoeden van Ataxie of een ontwikkelingsachterstand is Motti verder een lieve, vrolijke en enthousiaste hond. Ze maakt regelmatig salto's omdat ze op volle snelheid door het erf rent en haar achterpoten vaak sneller zijn dan haar voorpoten. Maar ook daar zit ze dan niet mee, ze schudt zich uit en rent weer vrolijk verder! Gelukkig is Motti verder goed in haar doen en altijd blij en enthousiast. Ze is een actieve en heerlijk ondernemende dame die met veel positieve energie door de wereld galoppeert, en dan wel op haar eigen unieke manier! Motti is een podenco-mix van nu zo een 5 maanden en is dol op knuffelen en spelen. Ze kan goed met haar maatjes in het asiel en maakt gewoon overal een feestje van. Haar levenslust is hoogst besmettelijk! Omdat ze moeite heeft met de coördinatie tijdens het rennen kan ze een beetje "onhandig" overkomen. Motti is nog jong en mogelijk nog niet geheel uitgegroeid maar met haar 8 maanden is ze al een heel end, ze is nu 49 cm. Motti mensgericht en heerlijk nieuwsgierig. De "grenzen" die wij zien...voelt zij duidelijk niet, ze is te druk met leren, genieten en knuffelen. Deze vrolijke dame is klaar voor een eigen thuis.
