Mrki – a gentle treasure with a big heart → Breed: mixed breed → Gender: male → Born: 05/2023 → Size / Weight: 52 cm / 27 kg → Neutered: yes → Vaccinated: yes → Identification: Chip → Compatible with: male dogs and female dogs → Incompatible with: N/A → Sponsorships possible: yes Description: Mrki is an incredibly loving dog who is impossible not to adore. With his fluffy fur and affectionate nature, he is a true cuddle bug who greatly enjoys being close to people. His story didn't start easily. Mrki was found severely injured. Fortunately, he was discovered in time and received help—without this assistance, he likely would not have survived. He received medical care and has recovered well. Now he is ready for a new chapter in his life. By nature, Mrki is an exceptionally gentle, friendly, and very pleasant dog. He approaches people openly and lovingly and gets along well with other dogs. At the same time, he is a smart and sensitive dog who values attention and affection. Despite being so people-oriented, Mrki is still at the beginning of a new life. Many everyday things of family life—living in a house, routines, car rides, or new environments—he will still need to learn. Therefore, we are looking for people who have patience and can give him the time to settle into his new life step by step. Mrki is a tender and intelligent dog who simply wants to belong. Note:

About Mrki

What life with Mrki looks like

Mrki is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mrki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mrki?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mrki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mrki if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Mrki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mrki isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mrki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
