Muffin

Yorkshire Terrier · Male · Puppy · 2 months

Quentin and Muffin are two of Bonnie's puppies. Together with their mother and their sibling Pippa, they came to the Melampo animal shelter because their owner unfortunately became seriously ill and can no longer care for the dogs. So the life of the little family suddenly changed and they had to leave their previous home. The two little males are friendly, trusting, and curious towards the helpers. At their age, they are playful and full of discovery. Their mother Bonnie is a very loving and people-oriented dog. She encounters the volunteer helpers without fear, trusts them, and lets herself be easily touched and picked up. She is also completely relaxed in dealing with her puppies and lets Quentin and Muffin be picked up and cared for without any problems. They thus have a calm and trusting mother by their side, who gives them a sense of security from the start. Despite the joy of having a puppy, it should not be forgotten that a puppy also means a lot of time, patience, and responsibility. Quentin and Muffin are still at the beginning of their lives and must first learn what it means to go through everyday life with their people. Housebreaking, education, and socialization are just as much a part of it as gradually getting to know the environment and age-appropriate physical and mental activity. That is why we wish for the people who consciously decide on a young dog and are willing to accompany them patiently and lovingly on their way. A puppy is not a spontaneous acquisition, but a family member for whose well-being one takes responsibility for many years. Quentin and Muffin should get the necessary time, security, and loving guidance so that they can develop into self-confident, balanced, and happy dogs. The new owners undertake to have Quentin and Muffin spayed or neutered as soon as the right time for it has come.

DE·Show original

About Muffin

What life with Muffin looks like

Muffin is a puppy/kitten yorkshire terrier dog waiting at Melampo in Melampo.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Muffin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Muffin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Melampo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Muffin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Muffin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Melampo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Muffin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Muffin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Melampo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Muffin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
