Mixed Breed · Male

Origin: Linares (Andalusia) Location: Linares (Andalusia) Size / Weight: approx. 32 cm shoulder height, approx. 4.1 kg Other: neutered, microchipped with EU passport, vaccinated, and tested negative for Mediterranean diseases Temperament: very people-oriented, clingy, gets along well with fellow animals Ideal home: Natural surroundings; suitable as a single dog or second dog; experienced dog owners with empathy and no unrealistic expectations Adoption fee: €450, including transport costs to Germany Imagine you’ve lost everything that mattered to you and are now waiting, terrified and utterly alone, in a dreadful, barren kennel—suddenly trapped behind high concrete walls with no affection whatsoever, hoping for a miracle. This is exactly the story of little Pepe. This barely one-year-old Pinscher mix was heartlessly abandoned by his owner (sadly, we don’t know the details of his past) and ended up in what’s known as a kill shelter. Yes, his life hung by a thread—among so many large dogs, the smallest ones are usually the first victims of despair! Thankfully, Pepe has since left that horrific place and found refuge in our Spanish shelter. Thanks to kind-hearted people who donated a “ticket out of hell,” we were able to save his life, among others. But his rocky road to a happy life beyond Spain is still long… Pepe continues to fervently hope that someone will finally discover him and give him his travel ticket to Germany. At just 4.1 kg, Pepe is an incredibly gentle and lovable soul. In the shelter environment, he gets along well with fellow animals. Initially, he was somewhat shy and clearly marked by his past—but anyone who gives him a little time and love will be rewarded with unwavering loyalty. This little guy dreams of curling up small on a soft sofa and finally feeling the security of a family he so deeply deserves. Pepe has already packed his “suitcase.” He longs for a kind family who enjoys spending time in nature and can show him how beautiful the world can be. If you can imagine giving Pepe a new chapter in life filled with affection and security, we’d be thrilled to hear from you. In your message, please briefly describe your situation: Who lives in your household? What’s your living situation like? What does your typical weekday look like? Do you have prior dog experience? This information greatly helps us find the perfect family for this little treasure. Please note that his future family must also be willing to personally pick up Pepe in northern Bavaria—that’s where all our rescued dogs arrive exclusively from Spain. Thank you for having a heart for the forgotten souls of this world—maybe little Pepe will soon become part of your life? About Pepe

What life with Pepe looks like

Pepe is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) in Vilseck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pepe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pepe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pepe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pepe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pepe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pepe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pepe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
