Neurina

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 11 years

23-11-2015 - Once upon a time there was a sweet mother cat who lived in a house. One day she became a mother, two beautiful kittens were born, they were thrown away in the trash. She became desperate but never managed to find her kittens. They were rescued and taken to an animal shelter where they were cared for with lots of love. But unfortunately the male kitten did not survive and became a little angel. She who seemed the strongest managed to survive but with serious neurological problems. The caretakers who looked after her thought that with time everything would get better, but after several exams it was discovered that the little one would never be a normal cat. Affectionately she was called Neurina. She is a sweet kitten, almost normal, a bit of a dancer and a bit of a crazy one, she falls down and gets up again but manages to have a normal life. So what is so tragic about this story? In this story there is only a lot of suffering in seeing this sweet, very affectionate and playful kitten every day, but who does not know how to play, living forever locked in a cage. There is no other place in the animal shelter where she can live except in a cage, the one you see in the photo. Many people have come to the animal shelter, many have seen her but no one had any pity for her. There are many animals in need of help!!!!!!!!!!! This is what you must have thought, she is fine here, she has everything, she is treated well. This is what you thought to not even give her a glance!!!!!! Neurina is about eight months old and has been locked in a cage for eight months, it's not life, she can have a normal life in a home, since she is completely healthy, negative for FeLV and FIV, but life in a cage will make her go crazy!!!!!! I beg you with my heart in my hands, let her know love, let her know what it is to jump on a couch, let her know that there is still some good person left because Neurina will go crazy here and you, who saw her and did nothing for her, know that she will never be released into our feral cat colony, know that only you can help her, if you want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About Neurina

What life with Neurina looks like

Neurina is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at L.I.D.A. Olbia in Olbia.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Neurina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Neurina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L.I.D.A. Olbia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Neurina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Neurina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L.I.D.A. Olbia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Neurina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Neurina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L.I.D.A. Olbia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Neurina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
