adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this dog now! Newt did not have an easy start in life. She was surrendered together with her brother and was noticed at the shelter. Fortunately, she was found in time and could be treated at the eye. Therefore, Newt will not have any permanent eye damage. Despite everything, she has maintained her friendly and affectionate nature and shows how much joy she has every day. Character-wise, Newt is a super-friendly, playful, and sweet little puppy. She loves the contact with people, meets her surroundings curiously and openly, and gets along well with other dogs. Cats have not been tested yet. Visually, Newt is a particularly sweet little puppy with soft, spotted fur and her cute little crooked ears, which give her a unique and unmistakable appearance. With her small size and loving gaze, she conquers hearts in no time. Her new family should be aware that Newt has not yet experienced life in a loving family. As a young puppy, she still needs to learn the entire dog ABC and gradually get used to everything. Leash training, house training, and being left alone are still completely new to her. Puberty is also still ahead, in which she will test boundaries and perhaps "forget" what she has learned. Newt needs people who meet her with love, patience, and understanding, give her security, and gently introduce her to everyday life. With clear structures, positive reinforcement, and enough time, she will develop into a wonderful and loyal companion. A positively working dog training class can be a valuable support and helps to strengthen the bond. Newt is a small, lively, and special female dog who, despite her difficult start, looks to the future with full trust. She deserves people who show her how beautiful a protected dog life can be. After a successful adoption, Newt will travel microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated, and with an EU pet passport to her new home. Who gives this brave little puppy the chance at a safe and loving life? Many thanks to Gritt. You gave Newt a name and thus the chance at a new life. Date: 18.05.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Newt hatte keinen einfachen Start ins Leben. Vielen Dank an Gritt.

About Newt

What life with Newt looks like

Newt is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Newt, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Newt?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Newt on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Newt if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Newt already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Newt isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Newt and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
