Nicole

Belgian Malinois · Female · Senior · 8 years

Nicole wants to find a home. The beautiful dog has been with her foster caregiver since July 2024, who reports: "Who doesn't know the Malinois, they are not for everyone, but once you love them, you love them deeply. Nicole is very typical in being active and independent, always wanting to be moving and involved. Nevertheless, you can tell she is somewhat older and calmer compared to our other Malinois. Nicole has a very friendly and affectionate nature. She loves being in the garden, playing with her ball and other dogs, swimming or watching the activity at the fence. She lives with two other dogs and shows very good social behavior. However, strange dogs are not really her thing; she can only get used to them gradually. Nicole can stay alone for several hours without any problems, but she is also a pleasant companion and loves going for car rides, staying calm during them. On the street, passing cars, especially at higher speeds, make her afraid and she reacts to that. Nicole has made good progress, but this needs to continue being practiced with her. She likes going to the office with me, because being there is everything. As an office dog, she is well suited, friendly during visits, but not intrusive. With my husband, she regularly and easily goes to the airport. Nicole has Leishmaniosis, but it is well controlled with medication. As is known, the disease breaks out when the animals are under stress; since Nicole has been with us, she shows no symptoms or limitations. You can tell how happy she is and how much she appreciates her new environment. We think Nicole would like to be a single princess accompanied by an active person, preferably in a quieter environment. She is not easily accustomed to cats, but has no problem with children." If you would like to meet Nicole, contact her adoption officer. Here are Nicole's videos: Video 1 – Video 2 – Video 3 – Video 4 – Video 5.

About Nicole

What life with Nicole looks like

Nicole is a senior belgian malinois dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nicole, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nicole?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nicole on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nicole if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nicole already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nicole isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nicole and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
