Nizza

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

💕 Lovely Nizza is finally looking for her forever home! 💕 Nizza didn't have an easy start in life. She gave birth to her puppies in the middle of the city, near the town hall. Unfortunately, the authorities were not willing to tolerate the little dog family, and the dog catchers were called in - with the aim of killing Nizza and her puppies. 😢 Fortunately, our dear Cristina was in the right place at the right time and was able to rescue the little family. 🙏❤️ Since 2020, Nizza has been living at Cristina's foster home in Borsa, Romania. She has been waiting for so many years for someone to recognize what a great dog she is - and give her a forever home. 🥺❤️ Nizza is a loving, friendly and affectionate dog. She enjoys every caress and especially long belly rubs. 🥰 She is playful, curious and enjoys having adventures. She also walks well on a leash. 👧 Nizza loves children very much. She enjoys their closeness and attention and shows herself friendly and open to them. However, there are also some things that her future people should know and consider: 🐾 Nizza would like to be the single princess in her new home. She doesn't understand jokes about food, especially when it comes to other dogs. She is very possessive of food and can become physical in such situations. Therefore, she should be fed separately from other dogs in her new home. It would be even better if she had a home where she could have her people all to herself. 🐾 Nizza was also operated on the spine. The operation was successful and she is now allowed to jump, romp and move normally again. Nevertheless, her people should keep an eye on her physical development and make sure she doesn't become too overweight. Because Nizza is a small gourmet. 😉 Unfortunately, she doesn't get enough exercise at her current foster home and has a few pounds too many on her ribs. In Germany, she will therefore be able to slowly regain her ideal weight with enough exercise and a balanced diet. ❤️ We suspect that Nizza may be a Kangal or Herding Dog mix. Therefore, we are looking for people who have experience with Herding Dogs or similar breeds and understand and appreciate their nature. A house with a well-secured garden or a correspondingly large, securely fenced property would be ideal for Nizza. She wants to be there, accompany her people and finally experience what it feels like to really be there. After all these years in foster care, it is high time that Nizza got her own bed. 🥺❤️ She has so much love to give and has been waiting for her people for so long. Who will finally give Nizza the home she's been waiting for since 2020? 🐾❤️ This is our assessment of Nizza's current behavior, how she will show up in Germany, we cannot predict. Like us humans, every dog can change and develop.

💕 Liebevolle Nizza sucht endlich ihr eigenes Zuhause! 💕 Nizza hatte keinen einfachen Start ins Leben.

About Nizza

What life with Nizza looks like

Nizza is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Mischlingsliebe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nizza, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nizza?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Mischlingsliebe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nizza on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nizza if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Mischlingsliebe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Nizza already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nizza isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Mischlingsliebe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nizza and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
