Nora

Podenco · Female · Adult · 5 years

Nora is Sila's companion; perhaps she is her mother, we are not sure. They were found in the same condition: very thin, with multiple wounds and terrified. Nora is a very obedient and submissive dog towards people, and she gets along well with other dogs and adult cats. Currently, she lives with four other dogs and two cats. She is very affectionate, but also quite calm. She does not often have the need to play with other dogs, and is also more independent during walks. Nora has a very strong hunting instinct. She is not completely house-trained, but she sometimes goes outside to do her business. On the grounds where they live, there are rabbits, and she sometimes gets so nervous that she forgets to go outside and pees in the garden when she gets home. Nora is a very sweet dog, who lies down submissively when you yell at her or scold her. She is very attached to Sila, so a joint adoption would be ideal, although we know this is difficult. If this does not work out, we will also mediate them separately. The shelter has conducted a legal procedure with their previous owner who mistreated them, so we think these dogs will be safer outside Spain. Nora tested positive for ehrlichiosis, she is being treated and we hope the results of the repeat tests will be negative. It would be fantastic if both dogs could go to a new home together!

About Nora

What life with Nora looks like

Nora is a medium-sized adult podenco dog waiting at description in AL Ridderkerk.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. description handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — description will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with description early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
