Norbert

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

The hornless Kamerunschafsbock, Norbert, was listed for sale on eBay classifieds near Drolshagen in January 2024 at the age of six. Garden friends wanted to keep him and three goats as lawn mowers, but they severely underestimated the care requirements. They also didn't know that stable, sufficiently high fences are needed for the husbandry of such active animals. Therefore, the four animals have been living only in the stable for quite some time. The three goats found a new home in a landscape conservation program in the Eifel. We initially took the unneutered Norbert to the Uniklinik in Gießen. There, he was neutered and his extremely unkempt, much too long claws were trimmed. For six weeks, he had to stay in the quarantine stall alone because only then was the reproductive capability ruled out. Now, he enjoys his life with the four Kamerunmädchen, Alma II, Fayola II, Malaika, and Zuri, but he urgently needs a few nice sponsors. Would you like to become his sponsor? Frequently asked

Adopting Norbert, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Norbert?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schutzengel für Tiere e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Norbert on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Norbert if I live in another country?: Sometimes. Whether a animal can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Schutzengel für Tiere e.V. what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Norbert already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: What a animal comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Schutzengel für Tiere e.V. directly what is included and what Norbert still needs.
What happens if Norbert isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schutzengel für Tiere e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Norbert and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
