Norman

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Puppy · 10 months

Norman, or as he's known in the kennels, “Storming Norman”, is a big, handsome lad looking for a home where he can join his owner on all of life's adventures. A lovely mix of Staffie and Labrador, he combines the very best qualities of both breeds. He's a proper ladies' man in the kennels and has charmed all of our staff and volunteers. Norman almost didn't make it to us. His previous owner was struggling with his mental health and had taken him to the vets to be put to sleep because he could no longer cope. We received a frantic call from the vet clinic, pleading with us to take him. Thankfully, we were able to arrange transport and get him safely on his way to us. His original name was Storm, but we didn't feel it suited his friendly, goofy nature, so we renamed him Norman. Despite being less than a year old, he's already a big boy, weighing 27kg. He's thriving on a raw diet, loving his meals, embracing his training, and settling well into kennel life. With the recent warm weather, we've also been trying to introduce Norman to the concept of a paddling pool, with only limited success! This boy has so much potential. His new owner will need to be committed to continuing the training we've started, but we truly believe Norman will make an outstanding companion. He can be boisterous, so any children in the home should be over 14 years old or experienced around large dogs. He gets on well with all the dogs he has met in kennels and seems particularly comfortable around larger dogs. As he has not previously shared indoor living space with other dogs, he would need to meet any potential canine housemates before adoption. Norman is a fantastic dog who is making the most of his fresh start in life, and he's more than ready to find a family of his own.

About Norman

What life with Norman looks like

Norman is a large puppy/kitten staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Doggy Dens UK Rescue in United Kingdom.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Norman, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Norman?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Doggy Dens UK Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Norman on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Norman if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Doggy Dens UK Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Norman already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Norman isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Doggy Dens UK Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Norman and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
