Octo

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Octo-gone is a 2-year-old male octodon. He was bought with his brother when they were very young from a pet store. His brother unfortunately died in March 2026, and Octo-gone is now alone. We are actively looking for him to find a life with another animal of the same species. Sold as social, but they were shy, their owner did not have the knowledge to care for them or socialize them. She therefore decided to entrust them to us so they could find a knowledgeable family that can take care of them properly. Our two little octodons got along very well. They ran together, found their favorite treats in record time even though they were well hidden. Octo-gone remains shy but took on the role of scout and always warned Octo-pus of any change. With patience, Octo-gone is making more and more progress, to the point of approaching the hand, helped by the attraction of dandelion roots. Another foster family was able to create a first physical contact, showing that a reassuring and kind environment can help him build a trusting relationship. The socialization work must be continued by his future family, who must be patient with him. He is neutered and currently in foster care in Plénée Jugon (22). Octodons must live in a group in a large cage or aviary (minimum 8000cm2 floor space with a minimum height of 100cm) on several levels with many enrichments (hides, sleeping areas, bridges, a bath with bathing sand, a wheel of at least 30cm in diameter, etc). He is up for adoption in Brittany and neighboring departments. The ADPK will advise and accompany you for this adoption and to provide them with an appropriate habitat.

FR·Show original

About Octo

What life with Octo looks like

Octo is a young adult mixed breed animal waiting at ADPK - Association Des P in adpk association des p tits korrigans.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Octo far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Octo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Octo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ADPK - Association Des P handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Octo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Octo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ADPK - Association Des P will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Octo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Octo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ADPK - Association Des P early rather than rehoming privately; they know Octo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
