O'Malley

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Another protected one has just been added to our seven little loves from the Chèvremont cat colony. This is O'Malley, a old neighborhood wanderer from the hospital district of Belfort. I am O'Malley, you know, like the street cat from the Disney movie "The Aristocats." Like him, I am a wandering cat and like him, I would really like to find a good home. But first I will tell you my story: It has been about 10 years that I have been wandering around the hospital district of Belfort and kind nurses gave me something to eat. I faced many dangers and also fought a lot. But since the hospital was demolished, my friends the other cats were moved to feeding sites. Since I was not often there, I ended up alone. A young man started feeding me and I got used to coming to visit him regularly. Then this young man moved away. Someone else took over. And something wonderful happened to me. The Belfort Animal Defense Association was able to have me spayed and identified. I am well fed and cared for. Thanks to this I am slowly becoming attached to my little patch of greenery, I don't wander around much anymore. I love the petting that the residents of this private property give me. It's so pleasant that I purr very often. But unfortunately a problem has arisen... I really don't have any luck! A resident complains that since I am on my little territory, she can no longer take her dog out as she wants. My presence is beginning to bother her and I think I'm going to have problems. I am a very affectionate cat, I love humans and I would love to have a house of my own, all mine. Because I don't get along very well with other animals. Access to a garden, a good nap, a good family to have a quiet retirement, I don't ask for much, do I? If you want to make me happy, contact the association. I will return to you a hundredfold the love you give me! Here is the email address for more information: And please don't hesitate to share my story, it will certainly touch someone. Thank you!

L’association Défense Animale Belfort a pu me faire stériliser et identifier.

About O'Malley

What life with O'Malley looks like

O'Malley is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Défense Animale Belfort (D.A.B.) in France.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting O'Malley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about O'Malley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Défense Animale Belfort (D.A.B.) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw O'Malley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt O'Malley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Défense Animale Belfort (D.A.B.) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is O'Malley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if O'Malley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Défense Animale Belfort (D.A.B.) early rather than rehoming privately; they know O'Malley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
