Ondeugende Ozzy

Jack Russell Terrier · Male · Adult · 4 years

Ozzy is a 4-year-old Jack Russell Terrier who was brought to the Netherlands at the age of 5 months due to a separation and his behavior. He is an uncertain and sometimes anxious dog, but he also has the spirit of a Jack Russell. Ozzy can be aggressive, especially towards unfamiliar people, particularly men. He may bark, but if he feels unsafe, he may also snap or bite. This can also happen if people leave. It is therefore important that this is properly supervised when visitors come over. More information about this will be provided during an introduction. Unfortunately, Ozzy has had no good experiences with men and is more aggressive towards men than towards women. We are trying to change this in the shelter, but he remains very selective. Therefore, we are looking for a female household for this boy. Although he will need guidance, Ozzy also has a fun side! With people he trusts, he is playful and loves to cuddle. He is very fond of his tennis ball, for example. Every day, he chooses a tennis ball to play with. Even if you throw three tennis balls at the same time, he always comes back with his chosen ball. He also likes to search for it and sometimes hides it under blankets or in a box. He then gets to work to find it. He walks nicely on walks. Because he is a bit uncertain, he prefers to walk in a quiet environment. He can be quite impressed by loud noises, such as traffic, wind or other loud noises. He may find a new route more exciting. Giving him his tennis ball helps him to walk more confidently. He hardly ever reacts to passers-by outside. Sometimes he may bark if a man is walking towards him or if someone has an umbrella, but he may also choose to ignore them. He is generally sociable with other dogs, but it also depends on what the other dog shows. He almost always reacts well to females. He may react differently to males. Ozzy will not be placed with another dog because he can defend his food and toys against another dog in the house. Because of his behavior, Ozzy will not be placed with children. After getting used to it, Ozzy can be left alone at home. Previously, he lived with cats and he liked to play with them. He may be placed with cats, but this will also require a separate introduction and additional investment from the owner. We are looking for a quiet environment for Ozzy. Because there is a lot going on and a lot of noise in and around an apartment building, we prefer not to place him in an apartment. The only exception we will make is for a smaller apartment in a quiet area. Despite his cute appearance, Ozzy is not for everyone. We are looking for a female owner who is willing to build a bond first and who takes into account that several introductions will take place before he can be officially adopted.

About Ondeugende Ozzy

What life with Ondeugende Ozzy looks like

Ondeugende Ozzy is a adult jack russell terrier dog waiting at Dierenopvangcentrum Breda in Breda.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ondeugende Ozzy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ondeugende Ozzy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenopvangcentrum Breda handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ondeugende Ozzy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ondeugende Ozzy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenopvangcentrum Breda will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ondeugende Ozzy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ondeugende Ozzy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenopvangcentrum Breda early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ondeugende Ozzy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
