Orlando

European Shorthair · Male · Senior · 12 years

Orlando has been diagnosed with a heart condition. He now takes a tablet twice daily, which he accepts without any problems. Otherwise, he shows no restrictions and romps around the apartment with his cat friends, keeping up with them during playtime. Orlando is still looking for a suitable home of his own. In the foster home, there was recently a human addition. Orlando gets along wonderfully with the baby; he even loves being near it. Therefore, he could also be placed with a family that has children. Orlando has had several instances where potential adopters had to cancel at the last minute due to personal reasons. Despite this, the dear Orlando deserves a wonderful home more than anyone. He is in good health, and the medication for his heart condition is well-adjusted, causing him no discomfort. He especially loves lying on the sofa in the evening, snuggling with his foster mom and being petted. A dream cat who longs for his own dream home.

About Orlando

What life with Orlando looks like

Orlando is a senior european shorthair cat waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Orlando, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Orlando?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Orlando on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Orlando if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Orlando already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Orlando isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Orlando and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
