Oscar & Milow

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 2 years

Oscar and Milow: 2 hearts, 1 home. These two lovely brothers belong together like cake and pie, butter and syrup, rain and sunshine... They have 4 paws on 1 belly, they are inseparable and we are looking for a home where they can be together. These two young ones are still young and full of curiosity and energy. They love climbing and playing, but above all they love attention. When you enter the room, you see their noses already coming forward in the hope that you come for them. After a short introduction, you - no, you must - pet them thoroughly and then they go into overdrive with purring. They like to be around people and will thrive best in a quiet environment. Children or a desire for children is really not suitable for them. Especially Milow (cyper) can get very scared by loud noises or unexpected events and needs some peace (besides his best brother) to feel comfortable. Milow is usually the first one there when something cuddly or food is available. Oscar (black), on the other hand, is more reserved. He enjoys our attention more than exploring and starts purring loudly as soon as he thinks you are going to pet him. Both men are used to going outside, so we will give them that again in their new home. The boys are familiar with bladder problems and this remains a point of attention. In practice, this means they need to drink a lot and have enough litter boxes available that are kept clean. You might think: "That must be for every cat?" Exactly, actually nothing special. Furthermore, they get special diet food, which is about as expensive to use as good regular food and Oscar & Milow love it, so don't be deterred by that. In exchange for your good care, you can count on paws full of kitten love, and a home full of warmth and mischief. Do you have space in your heart and in your house for twice as much kitten love, twice as much warmth, and twice as much purring? Come and meet Oscar and Milow. They look forward to your visit.

NL·Show original

About Oscar & Milow

What life with Oscar & Milow looks like

Oscar & Milow is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Dierenasiel Utrecht in Utrecht.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oscar & Milow, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oscar & Milow?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Utrecht handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oscar & Milow on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oscar & Milow if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Utrecht will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oscar & Milow already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oscar & Milow isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Utrecht early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oscar & Milow and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
