Oscar

Male · Senior · 13 years

Oscar is an extremely calm and gentle dog who has gained his wisdom over the years. Although his past remains a mystery to us, we can certainly say that he is a dog who deserves a safe and loving home. Oscar is a dog who may initially seem frightened and stressed in a new environment. He requires patience and understanding in order to feel secure and safe. He walks nicely on a leash, enjoys quiet walks, and gladly accompanies his caretaker. He does not pull or try to escape - he is the perfect companion for someone who likes relaxing strolls. He has already participated in the Adopt a Warsaw Dog campaign outside the animal shelter and presented himself excellently. Calm and composed, he traveled by bus politely, did not pay attention to the numerous dogs and in the park he walked with curiosity and sniffed around exploring new surroundings. We are looking for a home for Oscar, which will understand his needs and give him time to adapt. Someone who will appreciate his calm nature and be ready to surround him with the love he so desperately needs. If you have a place in your heart for an older dog who longs for peace and warmth, Oscar is waiting for you. By adopting Oscar, you will gain not only a lifelong friend, but also great satisfaction from giving a second chance to a dog who really deserves it. Give Oscar a home full of love and security - he will surely repay you with unconditional loyalty and calmness.

Anna 501175692 Monika 667473808 Dominika 512647947

About Oscar

What life with Oscar looks like

Oscar is a large senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Needs time and patience for adaptation, may be initially stressed in new environments

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oscar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oscar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oscar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oscar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oscar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oscar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oscar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
