Oskar wünscht sich einen ruhigen, erfahrenen Menschen, der ihn souverän und verlässlich durchs Leben begleitet. Fremden gegenüber ist er zunächst sehr skeptisch und benötigt viel Zeit sowie mehrere behutsame Begegnungen, um Vertrauen aufzubauen. Hat Oskar einen Menschen jedoch erst einmal kennengelernt und ins Herz geschlossen, zeigt er sich als lustiger, lebensfroher und ausgesprochen anschmiegsamer Kerl. Für sein Wohlbefinden braucht Oskar klare Strukturen, feste Abläufe und möglichst viel Planungssicherheit. Neue Situationen und ein unruhiger Alltag bringen ihn schnell aus dem Gleichgewicht. Zudem erkennt und nutzt er unterschiedliche Regeln oder kleine „Lücken im System“ sehr geschickt. Ein ruhiger Einzelpersonen-Haushalt oder ein Zuhause mit nur wenigen, konsequent handelnden Bezugspersonen wäre daher ideal. Im Freilauf zeigt sich Oskar mit anderen Hunden sehr gut verträglich. Oskar leidet an Morbus Addison und benötigt deshalb dauerhaft eine zuverlässige medizinische Versorgung sowie regelmäßige tierärztliche Kontrollen. Seine zukünftigen Halter müssen bereit sein, diese Verantwortung und die damit verbundenen Kosten langfristig zu übernehmen. Wer ihm ausreichend Zeit gibt und ihm die notwendige Sicherheit vermittelt, darf schließlich einen wirklich großartigen und treuen Begleiter kennenlernen.
