adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Otis has found a home! His story: A picture speaks a thousand words. Otis's gaze goes straight to the heart: Why am I here? Alone in a cage. Around me only barking dogs. And yet I am so alone. Please get me out of here! Otis was brought to our shelter in Bistrita by the dog catchers. The handsome young male dog is safe here and gets regular food, but he misses human proximity because he loves humans more than anything. We will probably never know why Otis ended up on the street. But we would like to give him a better future so he doesn't spend his youth in the cage and preserves his love for humans. Otis currently weighs 16 kg and is expected to grow to about 50 cm when fully grown. He gets along well with other dogs, but we don't know if that also applies to cats. Although he is almost out of puppyhood, he is not yet an adult. Maybe he hasn't lived in a house yet. From house training, basic commands, to being left alone, he still has a lot to learn. That's why we are looking for patient people who will take the little guy by the hand and show him the world. Also, puberty is just around the corner. Like in humans, hormones can go wild, accompanied by sudden "deafness" and "memory loss." Only patience, love, humor, and consistent training will help Otis develop into a great companion. Otis will travel neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with his EU home animal certificate to his new home. After a positive But also a foster home would already be a good option for the sweet Otis. Has Otis's gaze already softened your heart? Then don't hesitate. He is looking forward to your inquiry. Thank you, Silke S.! You gave Otis a name and thus paved the way to a happy dog life. As of 19.09.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Otis hat sein Zuhause gefunden! Seine Geschichte: Ein Blick sagt mehr als tausend Worte. Otis Blick geht mitten ins Herz: Warum bin ich hier? Einsam eingesperrt in einem Zwinger. Es ist laut. Um mich herum nur bellende Hunde. Und trotzdem bin ich so allein. Bitte holt mich hier raus! Stand: 19.09.2025

About Otis

What life with Otis looks like

Otis is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Otis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Otis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Otis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Otis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Otis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Otis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Otis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
