adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Pal has found his home! His story: Pal is a real lucky break for anyone who desires an active, intelligent, and cuddly companion! The approximately 1.5-year-old and about 50 cm tall male dog has already moved into his foster kennel in Hamburg and has won over everyone there with his positive and open nature. Pal shows absolute openness in all situations and also adapts well to city life. He especially loves the proximity of people: He is very people-oriented, cuddly, and looks forward to every bit of attention and petting. The charming male dog seeks the close contact with his trusted people and would like to be with them at all times. His active, eager-to-learn nature makes Pal the perfect adventure companion. He wishes for sporty and adventure-loving people who can go on discovery tours with him, teach him new things, and give him loving guidance. Pal is very intelligent, learns exceptionally fast, and is enthusiastic about any kind of mental stimulation. With other dogs, Pal is absolutely compatible, plays and frolics happily with dog buddies, and enjoys the harmonious coexistence. Even in the car, he travels relaxed and shows house-training as well as uncomplicated behavior in everyday life. The only thing that could possibly still be a small challenge for him is being left alone, but he will also learn that. For Pal, we are looking for an active family or individual who is enthusiastic about training and adventure. Whoever wants to give him affection, consistency, fun, and security will get a real dream dog who goes through life with enthusiasm and affection. If you want to win Pal's heart forever and start a journey with him, then contact us – Pal is waiting for his happy ending! A thank you to Jenny N. for the name sponsorship of Pal and to Dagmar R-R. for the monthly support. As of: 25.08. This animal is house-trained. This animal is vaccinated. About Pal

What life with Pal looks like

Pal is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pal, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pal?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pal on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pal if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pal already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pal isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pal and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
