Adopt Palak

Podenco · Male · Puppy · 3 months

Animal shelter Tanamera: Update April 2, 2026: Palak is growing nicely and is super healthy. That's how we like to see it. He is now about 9 weeks old and weighs around 6 kilograms. He is a quiet puppy who likes to play with his toys and prefers to sit on someone's lap. He has already completed his second set of vaccinations without making a sound! Because puppies change so quickly, five new photos have been added. Input March 4, 2026: Palak was rescued with his family from a rabbit hole! His mother Valentina (14 kg) had given birth to 5 puppies there. We had been following this litter when she was pregnant, but we only got her into our trap after she gave birth. Since we didn't know where the puppies were, we released her again with a tracker. And so we followed her to a field with rabbit holes. Eventually, we dug up the puppies and took them. They were already 3 weeks old then. Despite never having been outside or seen a human before, they adapted quickly. They became social rapidly and are healthy. Palak is a bit calmer than his brothers and sisters. Not afraid, just calmer. Of course, that can change, but he is lovely and gentle by nature and affectionate. With some little mischievous tendencies, of course... but then again, those shoe laces are asking for it! He can travel from May onwards, because the puppies need to be vaccinated first and have their passports!

About Palak

What life with Palak looks like

Palak is a small puppy/kitten podenco dog waiting at description in AL Ridderkerk.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Palak, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Palak?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. description handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Palak on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Palak if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — description will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Palak already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Palak isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with description early rather than rehoming privately; they know Palak and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
