Adopt Parry

Female

Hiya, My name is Parry. I'm the cleverest Eclectus you could ever meet! I will sit with you all day and I absolutely love company! I love the ladies, I'm a ladies man! But will be happy with anyone so long as they stay and talk to me. History/Background: I was adopted by Problem Parrots many years ago, but due to a change of circumstances I have had to return to the charity. Current Presentation: I get stressed if I get left a lot, so I'd need someone who is home most of the day, so I can spend the majority of time out of my cage. I have plucked, and still do this a little, as it has become a habit. So I'm a bit of a naked chicken! My plucking is reduced when I have company and am out of the cage with you though. I have the most fantastic vocals and can say many words clearly. I do have very noisy moments and will shout if I want you. Sometimes I shout in my native song and sometimes I shout Mammy. I can blow kisses and say ‘Love you Parry' also. I know my name very well. I love to wander about and be with you. I don't like head scratches, but will happily just sit with you. I will step up for anyone, as long as you are confident. I can cry like a baby and quack like duck. I love my toys and will come to my new home with these. I am not keen on a shower, but I like to bathe in my water bowl in the cage or in a bowl of water. I have seen cats from my cage and they do not bother me as long as they do not approach my cage. I don't mind children either, as long as they don't poke at me! I have been in the aviary for some sunshine, and I love this! I don't mind other big birds but maybe only one or two please as I like my time out of the cage to be with you! Diet: I am an eclectus so my diet mainly consists of fruit and vegetables, especially exotic fruit and sprouting seeds. I love passion fruit, strawberries, blueberries and figs too! I like the odd spinach leaf whole and I like herbs too! I also have a small amount of Tidymix and Harrisons pellets. My favourite treats are walnuts! Summary: So, my safe-house mum says this is the hard bit. She absolutely adores me and showers me with love. She wishes I could stay, but also knows that I need more time with my person, and she goes to this thing called work, a lot more than I'd like! So she says it would be selfish to keep me, and I need to find MY person, who can be with me lots and lots and give me all the love I deserve! (I know she's soft right!) Then hopefully my feathers will start to look a lot better too. Forgot to say I was poop trained once too, so could possibly revisit that! Now if you can all form an orderly queue please, so my safe-house and rehoming team can find me a perfect forever home I'd be most greatful! Lots of Love Parry x Are you interested in adopting? About Parry

What life with Parry looks like

Parry is a large adult animal waiting at Problem Parrots in United Kingdom.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Parry far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Parry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Parry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Problem Parrots handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Parry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Parry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Problem Parrots will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Parry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Parry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Problem Parrots early rather than rehoming privately; they know Parry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
