Adopt Peanut

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Our little Peanut is a confident little lady who moves with self-assurance. She is alert and quick-minded, and on the way she has surely lived at least some time on the streets. It is likely that she came from the nearby poor village of Cochirleni. Peanut is well-balanced. She can run around like a little rocket – but also loves to relax in the staff's spaces. This little "earthworm" will find her place on the couch at home. She quickly learned to walk on a leash and enjoys the "freedom" around the fence where she can relax and sniff around. Peanut moves well among other dogs as long as they are kind and respectful. She has good body language and is skilled at setting boundaries when someone gets too pushy. She worked well as a mentor for Olly, a little and lost whippet. They got along well together but became a bit too excited during play. A slightly calmer dog might be a good companion in the future. Peanut with her self-assured manner welcomes acquaintances and has also met some of the cats in the yard and included them in her circle of friends. To our lovely Peanut, we now seek the loving forever home where she becomes an appreciated family member with all the benefits that entails. The home must not be in a city setting and you should be able to offer a playful and varied existence with play, beautiful forest walks, and plenty of mice. Peanut would like to live with a slightly calmer doggy friend who can help her adjust to the new life and become her best friend. Staff's words: She is easygoing and very funny, determined and brave, and she will bring much love and good energy to her future home. Background: Every year there is a gruesome snowstorm in Cernavoda – this time in mid-February. A woman near the fence saw a little dog in the middle of the road – barely visible in the snowdrifts. She would soon be run over. The staff at the fence rushed to the spot where the mixed snow and ice whipped around in the storm, but they were unable to find any little dog.

Personalens ord: She is easy going and very funny, determined and brave, and she will bring much love and good energy in her future home. Nedstämda körde man t

About Peanut

What life with Peanut looks like

Peanut is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundhjälpen in Stockholm.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peanut, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peanut?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundhjälpen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peanut on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peanut if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundhjälpen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peanut already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peanut isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundhjälpen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peanut and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
