Für seine Menschen gibt er den verspielten Clown und verschmusten Seelentröster. Dort im gewohnten Umfeld blüht Pepe auf und bleibt auch mal problemfrei allein. Fremdes, Neues und laute Umgebungen, Umstände, die Hunden zum Beispiel bei langen Gassirunden, in Gaststätten, auf Reisen oder beim Wandern begegnen, mag Pepe nicht. Weitem Ausführen steht auch sein begrenzter Radius entgegen, Resultat einer alten, verheilten Verletzung. Pepe wünscht sich ein Zuhause ohne Treppen, sehr gerne mit Garten zum Spielen und anschließendem Chillen. Zwischendurch sucht Pepe immer wieder Menschennähe und Kontakt zu seinen Mithunden. Nach außen ist er wachsam, weist mit zurückhaltendem „Wuff“ auf mögliche Eindringlinge hin, kommt dann rasch wieder in die Ruhe. Autofahren stresst Pepe eher und das schon beim Einsteigen. Er muss - seiner alten Verletzung wegen - vorsichtig gehoben werden und welcher gestandene Vierbeiner mag das schon.
